We're addicted. We are reality TV junkies. Currently, "Run's House" and "Big Brother" have our attention. So I thought, since we watch so much "real" TV, why couldn't/shouldn't they make a reality show about us. Take the following conversation that played out on Facebook. I got more than 30 comments on my initial post. Pay careful attention to Ed who finally chimed in with his two cents worth.

Me: "Honey, when you see a sink full of dishes do you ever think 'hmm, I should clean those?"
Ed: "No."
Me: "What about when you see things out of place - do you think "I should straighten up."
Ed: "No."
Me: "Okay, well do you think maybe you the next time you see a pile of whatever you can consciously say to yourself, "I should clean up"?
Ed: "What pile of what?!"
Me: "Nevermind."
The Barnhouse Reality Show.

Sounds like the Emorys....and probably every other household on the face of the planet! :D
Leigh:
He must have learned from Chad or vice versa!!!!
Christine:
Does he know my husband by chance?
Ashley:
Dayv does that too...I finally realized he wasn't not trying to help, he just didn't see a need for it (unless this is a bad trick they teach our hubbies in school!)

You know there's an "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode where Ray convinces Robert to "mess up" his chore so he won't get asked to help again. Hmmm....Maybe it's a husband conspiracy.
Sharon
seen that one...not quite sure Ed is smart enough for that one!..haha JK, Ed!
Aimee
LOL!! I quit asking those questions about a year ago...just does not seem worth the breath, because you will end up using more breath in the frustration process than you would otherwise.

You need to read "Personality Plus". Just finished it- it explains exactly why the dishes would scream at you and why he could leave them there without a thought. :0)
Jennifer
...but I bet when he see's a nude wife he thinks "Sheet Music!" tee, hee. Also a good book..."His Needs, Her Needs"

I am so glad we are not the only people to have had this conversation!!!
Jennifer
Ladies...you just have to tell them exactly what it is that you want them to do....they just don't function the way that we do!! I mean, they're kind of like dogs....they drool over a ball being thrown across a field over and over. It's easier in our house if I just assign my husband a weekly job to do....and pick the day that he needs to have it done by. It's like working with children here!! =)

Girl u need to lay the law down, Jared knew from the beginning that it was a 2 person job at my house, esp. since we both work-we share responsibilities

Don't get me wrong - he definitely helps ... he just needs a little guidance since he doesn't 'see' the things I see that need to be done! ha ha!
Christopher:
you can legitimately reverse the roles of this conversation in my house. truth.

Edwards, I always knew there was something a little funny about you! Jennifer, you are cracking me up! The dog comment?! Hilarious!
Christopher
Easy. Some of us like to clean. If there wasn't one party willing and able, we'd live in a pig sty.

Thank you all. Your posts have truly made this an entertaining evening! (I'm so glad so many can relate.) And I should point out the amazing breakfast Ed made me yesterday & that he washed my car. Learning to see the blessings where they are instead of where I want them to be is part of it, right?!

with all the time you women just wasted making posts, you could have had two loads of laundry done, the kids bathed and ready for bed, dinner plans made for tomorrow, and lingerie on for your husbands to be greeted in when they decided to get out of their recliners.........BELIEVE THAT. Barnhouse Out.
