Stop and Smell the Daisies

The weather was perfect today. After a few days of unseasonably cool weather, the sun finally came out and I wanted nothing more than to just be outside. I took a walk around the neighborhood around sunset. It was beautiful - the weather comfortable, the sky turning beautiful colors and the sounds of the peaceful neighborhood.

When you ask to see God's glory, He shows Himself in even the smallest ways. Lawn mowers, birds chirping, neighbors watering yards, dogs barking as I passed by, and the continuous sound of my feet on the pavement. It was so peaceful.

Just a few minutes into my walk, I passed by some wild daisies growing on the side of the road. If you know anything about me, you know how much I love daisies - in fact, it is the choice flower Ed used to spell out "Will You Marry Me?" when he proposed. Daisies adorned our wedding and have long-since been my flower of choice. It thrilled me to see these small white flowers and I smiled as I passed by, thanking the Lord for even the little things that can brighten a day.

By the time I got to the second patch of daisies, I decided I needed to stop and pick a few. I found two, one the size of a quarter, the other the size of a dime. Yes, they were small, but perfectly round with proportionate petals and bright centers. I was so thrilled with my findings. And then it got me thinking...how a tiny little flower with its delicate petals and bright yellow center could make me smile. It is truly a reminder to me of how God chooses to bless us, and that He delights in us - so much so that He allows little things like daisies to show His love.

Have you asked to see His glory today? Have you prayed to find Him in even the smallest of circumstances? Have you stopped to smell the daisies?
