Oh the things he'll say...

Elijah has become quite the "talker" - or maybe we should use that term loosely and more accurately describe his utterings as "babble." He chatters constantly and Ed is convinced he's going to be a talker like his mom (I'm secretly happy about this!) and mingled in with all the mumblings and bumblings are some new words. Just in the past week we've heard him say "Sissy" (this is what we call Cutie our Yorkie) and "Night-Night" (this is understood better with a whine, more like a begrudging "I don't want to go niiiigh-niiiiight"). He's been saying "bye" and "hi" for awhile but now we're actually hearing a more casual "hey" (he thinks he's so cool) and this is usually accompanied by a high-pitched squeal. He has his own interpretation of "doggie" which usually sounds more like "dahg-ee." It's been fun to hear all the new words as it seems like he's learning something new everyday.

These past few weeks and months even since his first birthday have been so developmental and we've watched him change and learn drastically. He's become quite the mimmick, trying to copy things we say and do. When we come home from work, he squeals with delight and lunges for us and just cuddles. It is quite the welcoming! He giggles with joy and shrieks (it's literally ear-piercing) when he's being chased or tickled. And he'd much rather chase one of the dogs - which truly are his absolute favorite thing in the world. He throws up his arms in the air and waves at every dog we see anywhere we may be. He gets so excited about "life" he will literally slap both his hands on his legs or knees and just scream. It's hilarious and exhilerating all at the same time...and we love every single minute of it!

He loves for his picture to be taken and he's starting to throw mini "fits" when he doesn't get his way. This usually consists of the scrunched up nose and whining - which I am quickly trying to put a stop to. I simply cannot tolerate the whining!

Despite that, he's an absolute joy and we get the pleasure of watching him grow and learn and explore his world. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of this little life that you have allowed us to share in!
