Happy Mother's Day

It has been a full and blessed weekend - celebrating Elijah's first birthday was a blast! And the fact that this was my first Mother's Day made it all more than memorable. I dedicated a special song, A Mother's Prayer, to him today (thank you, Andy, for providing the piano music). I barely made it through without crying. They recognized all the mothers, as they do every year, and for the first time I got to stand.

We also celebrated with a great lunch at our house and I was so aware of the importance of my mom now that I am a mother myself. Everything that song says is what she prayed for me all my life and now, as I mother my son, I know that her influence is trickling down to her children's children. Thank you, mom.

This year is another "first" as we celebrate without Nanny. Holidays like today are a brutal reminder of her absence. For that, we are sad but the new life that we celebrate in our family is also a reminder of the way God's hand has touched our family and the way that a genuine faith is being passed down from generation to generation.

A beautiful diamon necklace from Ed & Elijah - Thank you, my wonderful boys!

The decal "family" for the car.

Elijah's one-year footprints! We never got his footprints from the hospital because his birthmother has them so mom (Nana) stamped his feet and framed his footprints on his first birthday! Such a sweet gift!!! Thanks mom!

Don't get too attached to that family sticker, I believe it will be changing sooner or later!
