A Promise

Ever need a fresh word? Need it confirmed that you aren't just mindlessly walking through this thing called "life" for some unknown reason? Need to believe your place in the world matters? Need to know that the prayers you pray aren't just vapors that vanish into nothing?

I needed that today. I took a walk thinking, praying, asking for a fresh word. Needing guidance. Needing intervention. Needing to know that somewhere, somehow I was being heard.

Not 30 minutes later this is what I got.

It was spanning from one side of the street to the next - an array of brilliant colors that appeared to be just one door down. Close enough, surely, for me to reach out and touch. At least that's how it seemed.

Was this the answer to my problems? No. Was this the solution I was seeking? Not really. Was this what I was hoping for? Absolutely. How? Why? It was confirmation that at least I was being heard. It was the symbol I needed to remind me that peace comes after the storm - that whatever I face, no matter its magnitude in the grand scheme of the world's issues, is important to God. It's the assurance that God, my God, will most assuredly not let the floods overtake me. It's the hope that the Lord, I AM that I AM, has promised me a hope and a future. Despite me not knowing what that future may be, He holds it - but even more, He holds me.

I'm still hoping, praying, seeking...but at least now I can hope, pray, and seek knowing His promise.

thanks for sharing.....what an encouragement! He can speak through His Word, other believers, children, music, nature, etc...He sees each tear that falls and hears me when I call!

Did you know when looking from above, a rainbow makes a perfect circle. We only see one side of it from down below. I love that fact. God has the ENTIRE thing in His plain sight, even though we are only one-sided.
