Baby Steps

Our little man was up from 2:45 a.m. until 4:40 a.m. - and so were we. He's actually getting two top teeth - one right in front and another one on the side. We know this too shall pass, but we're all a little tired. Needless to say, everything goes in his mouth and there is no dry shirt from all the drool. He is especially fond of the strings on Daddy's sweatshirts. Apparently, they make great chew toys.

And then there was the Inauguration of our 44th president. Little did he know we were watching history in the making. Pretty sure the face in the third picture says it all...

Each day seems to bring something new and last night Jackson helped him learn to climb stairs (not really, but he was right by his side for moral support). There is no keeping him still so as he scooted off through the downstairs, he mischieviously looked back to see if I was going to follow. Of course, I did and then he hit the steps. Like a mountain ahead, he looked up at the challenge before him. And then he put one hand on the step - then two. He tried a couple of times to figure out if the left leg should go before the right. He finally decided he could prop a knee on the step to gain leverage and push himself up to the next level. He proudly turned around to see if I had watched his new accomplishment - of course I cheered and clapped and threw an absolute party for this achievement (that Aunt Lindsay says will soon come back to haunt me - thank goodness for baby gates!).
And here we are -- celebrating in poetic justice a baby climbing the stairs. It's comical, really, and yet profound because I can think of nothing more that I'd rather celebrate. So, baby boy, congratulations. You made both of our days!

I feel your pain Carrie! Jett too is getting his top teeth and up every other night. I was praying for you guys last night as I was up from 3-4:30. I read this last night so I remembered it as I was up in the wee hours. I hope you got some sleep last night.

He seems to little to be going up the stairs already!
