Grandpa and Grandma left to go back home to Pennsylvania this morning but they certainly left their mark behind. Grandpa had the idea to plant a tree for you. They picked out a coral bark Japanese maple just for you. It's got lush green leaves with a tint of coral on the edges and coral tree limbs.

It's perfectly planted to the right of the driveway, and there is a clear shot for you to watch it grow from your bedroom window. Each year on your birthday we plan to take your picture beside the tree, watching it grow alongside you.

What you don't see are the roots that will grow deep into the ground. They will soak up the rain and nourish the beautiful leaves and growing trunk. It will provide the source of sustenance to the rest of what remains above ground. You are growing too. You are getting big and tall, gaining weight and filling out. Just like that tree, dear little one, you have taken root in our family, being forever planted in our hearts.

The family tree continues to grow with three generations of "Barnhouse" boys.

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper." Psalm 1:3
Our prayer for you, Elijah, is that you will grow and prosper like this tree we have planted in your honor. We pray everything you do will be blessed by the Lord and be unto Him. We love you so much and we're so thankful God has planted you in our family!
