Little One

Mama's boys fast asleep

All decked out - so maybe he has a little while before he grows into his Nike gear

It's never too young to start him cheering for the 'Canes. It's all about the "U"

Elijah,

You have absolutely ruined us! We can't get enough of you. Just staring at you while you sleep, holding you snuggled in our arms. We have settled in nicely to our role as your parents and you have quickly become the love of our lives.

I don't want to forget these days - our family 'vacation' in Ohio. Last night you enjoyed just hanging out in your diaper with dad. He says he was trying to teach you how comfy it feels to just hang out in the nude! HA! You were awake for so long and we had so much fun just looking at you and you at us. You know you are safe - we are your family and you are home (well, almost).

Do you know how hard you fight sleep!? You just keep opening your eyes, battling the surrender. I know you're exhausted - it must be hard having us dote on you constantly, but we can't help ourselves! Still, you just refuse to give up the fight. You want to make sure you know what's going on. I can't get over how alert you are at such a young age. Are you goin gto be strong-willed just like mommy and daddy?!

You also refuse to sleep in the bassinette. So far, the only thing we've found to keep you content is a warm snuggly chest or your car seat. I rocked you to sleep last night and as soon as I put you in the car seat, you squirmed. I'm so glad you like to snuggle. I can't stop giving you kisses! Everyone keeps saying we will spoil you if you sleep with us, fall asleep in our arms, or we hold you too much. What do they know?! We've got 9 months to catch up on!!!

You are such a good baby - such an answer to prayer. I love you, dear one.

Mommy

I'm hooked on your blog and so blessed by it!! Thank you!
I think it's reminded me once again how precious life is and how I take for granted that God blessed me with 3 healthy kiddos. I tend to get caught up in the business and exhausting part of parenting and you have helped me to stop and smell the roses.
Eli is just PRECIOUS and I'm so glad you're taking so many pictures and journaling- i know you will all be glad you did.
Keep enjoying every minute because somehow it just flies by! I can't believe my youngest just turned 1 yr. I LOVE the infant stage... all snuggly and ever so soft and just a masterpiece with God's fingerprints ALL over them.
Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy! I am soooo happy for you eventhough I don't even know you all that well. We knew eachother from LU but Im not sure if you even remember me.
Anyway, thanks again for your encouragement and honesty. Your love for the Lord is so evident and what a privilege to raise Eli in a Christian home.
~Blessings!!

He might have the Canes binkie, but just look at his face! He wants it out! GO HOKIES!!!!

No really, he is gorgeous and we love looking at the pictures until we can see him in person. Reagan's been working on saying Elijah but isn't quite there. I think Eli is more her thing. Payton does just fine, though.

He is just precious! I was telling the fam the other day that he looks a lot like my oldest Xian when he was a baby (same features, same long fingers, and he liked to scowl too, LOL).
We are so happy for y'all!!! I love reading about your journey and your heartfelt words!
He will be big before you know it, in the blink of an eye. You can absolutely NEVER hold them enough, it is impossible to spoil a baby!! One day he will be too big to hold, so keep cherishing it all now as much as you can, they are only this little once!
Oh, and as someone who has slept with all 4 of her babies and held them literally 24/7, don't worry about what others say, you just listen to your heart and what your little guy is trying to tell you. God has given your little man the perfect form of communication, the kind that touches mama's heart and makes us want to meet every want and need. That is what we are supposed to do. Those mama instincts are strong and they are a wonderful gift from God, you just keep listening to them and you won't go wrong!
