Happy Father's Day

Elijah,
Today you made your big debut in front of the entire church. So many people have prayed for mommy and daddy, and you, before they even knew or met you. They were praying for God to bring us the baby He had planned for us and today they all got to see you - our answer to prayer.

You had on the most adorable blue and white striped sear-sucker jumper, complete with blue and white shoes to match. Daddy would have preferred for you to be in Nike or Miami gear but not today, son. Today you had to be in your Sunday best. We made sure to all wear blue in honor of you, our sweet little boy.

We couldn't have been prouder, showing you off, our faces a reflection of the joy we feel deep within. And yet, as I stood there holding you in my arms and singing praises to the King, I couldn't help but sing a bit louder today. Truly, He is worthy to be praised. I praised Him before - without you - when I was sad and wanted a baby. I still sang praises -- but today I just had to sing it from the depths of my being because of His goodness.

It was appropriate that today was baby dedication on Father's Day. The pastor read your name, birthdate, our names, and all your grandparents names. He read the scripture for the meaning of your name from Deuteronomy 4:39, "Know and believe today that the Lord is God. He is God in heaven above and on earth below. There is no other god!" AMEN!!!

You got your picture taken with the Pastor, sweet little Ella, her big sister Maime, Brody and Sierra and of course all of the family. I don't think we could have been more proud. Today was not just about letting everyone meet you - no, this was about us dedicating you to the Lord. Giving you back to Him, for all the days of your life, so you may grow to honor and serve Him. I pray for your little life to glorify Christ - in all you do. We have a big responsibility to raise you and I know we're going to make mistakes, but I pray you will always know you have a Heavenly Father who perfectly planned each and every day of your life. And one day when you become a daddy, I pray you can teach your children that too.

I love you baby boy!
